One the things that I look forward to every week is our family Disney Dinner & A Movie Night. You might be wondering what the heck I’m talking about, so let me explain. Every Friday my family picks a Disney movie, we come up with a dinner that goes with the movie, and then we cook dinner together as a family and watch the movie. It has become such a special part of our week.
My husband is from Louisiana and takes pride in sharing that culture with our daughter. For that reason, we felt like Princess and the Frog would be a great movie to watch and my husband could cook us up some cajun food. We decided that for dinner we would have Pastalaya, which is essentially Jambalaya except that you use noodles instead of rice. Of course we called it “Princess Pastalaya” because #Disney. This recipe is pretty spicy and I was shocked that my toddler LOVED it.
We finished our dinner with Mickey beignets, just like you can find in Disneyland! To make these we used Beignet mix from Cafe Du Monde (I ordered directly from their website or you can find it on Amazon). I followed the recipe and cut with my favorite Mickey sandwich/cookie cutter (that is also from Amazon), carefully fried, and then dusted with powdered sugar. They were a HIT and I can’t wait to make them again!
I can’t wait to share more Disney Dinner & A Movie Night’s with you. I would love to hear ideas and recommendations for our future nights. Please comment below and share your ideas.
Sending love and magic.
You should do Beauty and the Beast or Aladdin.
