Disney Dinner & A Movie Night: Toy Story 3

As I was getting ready to write this post, I realized that I never blogged about our Toy Story and Toy Story 2 movie nights. Last year, during another boring Covid Friday Night, we made some homemade pizza (inspired by Pizza Planet) and watched Toy Story as a family. That one movie night inspired many more movie nights, including our Toy Story 2 Night last May. At some point, I will have to sit down and share those movie nights, but today I’m sharing our Toy Story 3 movie night from a couple of weeks ago.

Toy Story 3 follows our favorite toys as they navigate their owner, Andy, going away to college. While cleaning out his room, Andy’s mom accidentally throws the toys away, then they are quickly saved by Woody, but ultimately they find themselves inside a daycare. After making some new friends and some enemies, the toys eventually decide they need to get back from Andy. Woody helps them make a great escape; they reunite with Andy and are then given to a sweet little girl named Bonnie. As the movie ends, you know that they will have a new wonderful life with Bonnie.

Brooklyn REALLY loves Pixar movies and is a big fan of Toy Story, so I was looking forward to this night. I had a few ideas for our meal but ultimately decided to make food inspired by what little Bonnie would eat for lunch. I made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, a “Lunchable,” (meat, cheese, and crackers), grapes, carrots, and apple juice. Brooklyn was a big fan of this meal, considering these are things she eats daily, and I was a fan of how simple it was.

For dessert, I made a sweet strawberry sundae inspired by the villain of the movie, Lots-o’-Huggin’ Bear. Lotso is a large, magenta teddy bear who smells like strawberries and happens to be the movie’s main antagonist. This sundae included strawberry ice cream, strawberry syrup, whipped cream, pink sprinkles, and a little gummy bear. It tasted delicious and smelled like strawberries, just like Lotso.

Our Toy Story 3 Movie Night was so much fun. I keep debating if we will watch Toy Story 4 because, truthfully, I don’t like it at all. I wish Toy Story would have ended at Toy Story 3. (But I’m sure we will watch Toy Story 4 eventually)

Sending love and magic.
